When do you need a relay for hid

Always a good idea to use a harness. Plus, the thicker wire WILL give you better start up times. I test fired the Densos on a harness and they hit k faster than on stock wiring.

I think it's stupid not too. You might as well. Originally posted by ileopard View Post. It will cost yes, but let's be realistic. Originally posted by 19trax95 View Post.

January 19th, , AM. From 30 yr old vehicles to brand new vehicles. There are plenty of factory fail safes built into the vehicle. A lot of these guys worry too much. You do the math. Blurred Talon. It's not based on wattage but rather amperage. The wiring on the OEM halogen bulb harness is incredibly thin. It absolutely will fail with a HID kit drawing current through that tiny wire. Tomorrow I will finish my install and make a detailed guide on how to hook up a relay for your HID install.

HID kits made for this car are plug and play. Easy peasy. You will see. The kit comes with lights, wiring, and ballasts. Do not order the extra options, you don't need them.

Yes, you need a relay, if you want to run it reliably and safely. Wow, alot has happened in this thread since I was last here. Actually I did get the relay. But of course I went to install everything today but the "H11" relay didn't fit into my cars plug. But it is H11 it should fit? But ordered their universal kit and I also bought an adapter that will make the connection fit. If the universal kit doesn't fit then I will just use the adapter..

Anyway I rush shipped and am expecting the new relay and adapter to arrive tomorrow.. A Relay Wiring Harness utilizes a 30amp fuse protected power wire that directly connects to your positive terminal on the battery. An Automotive Relay is used to pull signal from a source Headlight connector that triggers power to be drawn from the battery. There are two sets of cables meant to provide power to an HID ballast. There are also two separate ground wire terminals that need to be connected to the chassis to complete the electrical circuit.

The different components of the Accessory Wiring Harness. Any lighting system can benefit from increased current capacity in the wiring. Visit GTRLighting. What does a Wiring Harness fix? This initial power surge can sometimes be problematic for vehicles with weaker electrical systems that cannot provide the power needed.

An HID wiring harness for some vehicles is a safety and assurance item to prevent future problems, and for other vehicles is a necessary requirement to a successful HID installation.

A general recommendation is to always use a harness where possible to help extend the life of your HID system, avoid unnecessary headaches, or to boost the output of your halogen light bulbs. Not only are you providing your HID ballasts with adequate power, you are protecting both your vehicle and HID system with the inline fuse that separates the system s.
