Emilio F on Nov 9, You may contact the manufacturer and they will be able to assist you with locating an installer in your area. I am replacing a Hayward Ecostar with this pentair will it work without a pool timer?
Joe J on Mar 14, Ron Turull on Jul 3, We have solar a heating system mounted on a trellis covering a deck area above the pool; Water from the pool is pumped though plastic panels and heated by the sun. Will this pump handle that feature as well as the pool filtering needs?. Probably about 10 - 12 foot vertical lift. Pool is small to medium residential pool with an attached spa. A shopper on Dec 7, I think it would do the job for you. It works well..
What happens if I have a power surge, will the Time clock remain on with a back up battery or will it shut off, and will the Time clock have a memory back up for the programmed settings? Y M on Oct 21, A power surge, if significant, would more than likely open the circuit breaker that protects your pool equipment. When the power comes back on or you reset your breaker if tripped due to surge then pump will operate as programmed. Yes it retains schedule. This is a great pump and saves a lot of electricity, if you or your pool service program it effectively.
It is indeed very quiet compared to older style pumps. I do not know what would happen to the Time Clock if a power surge occurred. I currently have a 2 HP pool pump.
In looking for a highly efficient pump, most are 3 hp max. Wouldn't 3 hp be too strong? A shopper on Jun 1, It is variable speed which you can set different speeds for each application. High one hour for pool sweep. Two hours medium for optimum flow for salt water chlorinater 5 hours low for circulation. I have had the 3hp model for over a year now and have been very pleased with it. In reality, I seldom run the pump at full speed it has 4 built-in settings.
However, it is nice to have that extra power available when doing things like vacuuming, etc. For the minimal difference in cost, it is well worth the price. I mostly run my pool either on setting 2 or 3. There are 4 presets buttons speeds which you can set at whatever RPM you like, and 4 other settings for setting up timers speeds Compared to a single speed pump which uses a standard electric motor to spin the impeller and create suction, the Intelliflo creates a magnetic field to spin the impeller.
It is more efficient than a single speed pump even at the same rate of flow. You can adjust the power settings and I think their are 8 of them. I set mine to 3 settings, , and and set the 24 hr.
I'm saving money on electrical charges and my pool water is perfect! This is the best pump I have ever had in 23 years as a pool owner. Vern Wright. Pool capacity, where you live, how much is it used etc. You will not be using the home as you have many selection to me I love the pumpEnter an answer to this question. I recommend it. I had a 2hp pump and changed to a 3 hp now problem.
If you have tec. A shopper on Feb 4, The pump has an internal one. Yes, I believe you need a timer if you want to automatically turn it on and off. I have an Intellitouch system that turns this on and off for me. I have been very happy with mine. No need for timer.
Those buttons control programs, speed, on,of etc. I use a timer, although I don't know if there is an internal timer. Check online manual. The timer is built in. Should the pump run on one continues rpm for 12 hours with no other rpm cycles? If no cleaner or no need to increase RPM, then I would recommend hour window. I aim for around 5 PSI on the pool filter but there are many variables such as plumbing size, filter size, etc. In low speed I try to keep the pump around watts per hour.
In addition, figure out how many gallons of water are in your pool and adjust your pump rpm and runtime to have at least one full exchange thru your filter per day. Use the pump curve provided in pump manual to figure out gallons per minute at certain rpm's. I believe it is better to use a lower rpm and rum pump longer.
I find that keeps the pool cleaner at the lowest operating cost. I have mine set to run at a higher rpm to run the crawler and then it drops to a lower rpm to just suck through the skimmer. That said I change mine when the solar heater is on because flow is so much less the pool vac. PS Pump costs so much less to operatee than the old single speed it is crazy.
I run the pump at rpm for 16 hrs per day. When heating I run pump at rpm. You must be sure you know the flow rate required thru your heater when heating or you will ruin your heat exchanger! Can this pump run my pool sweep and filter my pool, and can you set it up so the sweep only runs for certain hours? Rick G on Mar 4, You have four different times you can have it come on. The pump has a built-in timer that can be set to different pump speeds or can be set to turn off or on at various times.
I don't know. Hp is dictated by gallons of water in your pool and number of times you want to filter all water in pool daily. As far as more than 1hp is illegal would be something to call code enforcement to find correct answer.
Never heard of such a law but we are in Louisiana, and California being what it is, god only knows. Can tell you my pentair variable speed max 3hp is great! This pump is spectacular.
I bought one last year and plan on buying another for my waterfall. It only starts at 3 hp and immediately drops down. It is way more efficient than any 1 hp regular pump.
You can infinitely program how much electricity it uses. Great Product. Hi Patty. I am in Ca as well, and have the Pentair Intelliflo. I've never heard of any restrictions on HP, especially in CA. In fact I received a rebate from my Electricity provider for the Pentair which can run as high as 3 HP.
I have found this pump to met my needs of programming the time and speed of the pumps operation. I do warn you that it is no the easiest to program. I think that is where it falls short. It is a very quiet pump. A shopper on Nov 3, This is my first winter with salt water pump. I am getting a "water too cold" error message.
Is this normal, or what should I do? Theresa a on Jan 13, Is it worth buying Pentair and installing it myself considering the 60 Day Warranty?
Paul S on Apr 17, That was done out of an abundance of caution as my wife didn't trust me. They redid one joint, otherwise electrical, etc. If you're at all handy, I would go for it. As for the pump My bills are WAY down, just need to see what kind of schedule works for your pool. Pretty easy to program, too.
Good luck! I think that's a matter of opinion but this pump has a 3-year warranty when professionally installed. That's quite a difference. Might be worth the cost to have it professionally installed. Does this particular pump have a swivel readout screen? A shopper on Mar 10, Maybe you could unbolt it and turn it around degree but there is no "swivel" on mine. Reply Inaccurate spiwrx on Jan 17, Purchased on Sep 5, This is an older model and will not move.
The newer ones will. I have a 30 to 35 thousand gallon pool I want a quiet variable speed which one should I get?.
A shopper on Jun 8, The Pentair Intelliflo VS pump is one of the best you can get. I love mine so far. I've had it 1. On the sizing part, I'm not qualified to answer that. I would ask a licensed pool professional because the sizing is extremely important. We had this pump professionally installed and programmed about a year ago in our 30K gallon freshwater pool. Frankly I would have put this pump in much sooner if I had realized its benefits.
Highly recommend it! Most definitely a variable speed pump may a higher revolution per minutes to pump mire water but surely a variable one. I have an 19, gal pool! Which motor is best for me? Stephen F on Apr 29, This one would be fine. My pool is 18, gallons. A shopper on Apr 4, It has been a great pump for me. We just went through a very cold spell of minus 8 degrees with several consecutive days below zero. My waterfall completely froze over, but water continued to flow underneath the ice.
I would buy the same system again if were to quit next week! Yes, most variable speed pumps are, the things that are brand specific are color led lights and heaters. So I am contracting out my pool build myself, I did have a pool guy give me a list of my equipment needed for my pool design..
I have 25K gallon pool and 8 spa jets in my spa 3 bubblers and a waterfall sheer decent water feature. The pool guy told me to get 2hp whisperflo, but want a variable speed pump which one and which horsepower should i get? A shopper on Jan 9, We also have a separate one for our spa area. Ours do very well and we are pleased with their performance. Hope this helps. Pentaire intelliflow works great with my 25k gal.
Adjust the speed of the pump where you want it and then simply hold down one of the speed buttons to lock in that speed. Honestly This forum is not a great way to explain the process. Ohh thank you so much Reply chip s on Aug 18, Joe T on Aug 11, Intelliflo pumps can vary the speed at which the motor turns and so vary the flow through the pump. In doing so they use far less power but this does not mean your pool filtration will suffer.
Normal pool pumps have a copper wound motor that runs on a bearing. This make a noise and will wear out in time. Intellifo pumps have a permanent magnet motor that spins without a bearing and so it makes no noise and does not wear out.
Because normal pumps only have one flow rate you have to choose which horse power rating is appropriate for your pool. The intelliflo can be set for any equivalent horse power rating from zero to 3HP.
